From September 4th to October 30th, Les Enfants Terribles and ebp welcome you to Dinner at the Twits – an interactive theatrical dining experience, celebrating 100 years of Roald Dahl. In association with Bompas & Parr and Creature of London, the ‘world’s worst dinner party’ will be hosted at the residence of the revolting Mr and Mrs Twit at The Vaults in Waterloo.
Dinner at the Twits is designed specifically for adults, welcoming guests inside the world of the Twits and their windowless house and ghastly garden for a squeamish, squirmy and scrumptious journey down memory lane. Celebrating the 100th birthday of one of the world’s most beloved storytellers the event combines Dahl’s trademark macabre humour with the bizarre culinary delights of Bompas & Parr.
But be warned: Dinner at the Twits is not for the faint of heart or soft of stomach!
The evening lets guests fish-the-glass-eye from a prickly cocktail apertif, hunt for concealed canapes and brave a baroque bird pie banquet. Topped off with a potentially perilous pudding and ½ bottle of wine or non-alcoholic drinks, Dinner at the Twits will be a 90 minute extravaganza of entertainment. For those too timid to try the food, the Muggle-Wumps Downside Up Cocktail Cavern will also be open from 6pm.
Dinner at The Twits has been brought to life by Les Enfants Terribles’, whose previous work with ebp, Alice’s Adventure Underground, was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family. Les Enfants Terribles’ immersive and interactive theatrical productions are technically and creatively ground breaking experiences. In association with the flavour-famous Bompas & Parr and independent creatives, Creature of London, guests should expect nothing short of a gleefully grotesque evening, all finished with design by Sam Wye, as pictured below.
Oliver Lansley, of Les Enfants Terribles, said: “We never really lose our sense of play, our relish in the bizarre and revolting. Dinner at the Twits will give adults the opportunity to explore those boundaries between disgust and delight, to come up close and personal with the hideous hairy Twits and to be taken on a multi-sensory journey through Dahl’s beguilingly bizarre world.”
