WE WERE THERE TO STARE: Bryan’s private viewing
Last week the internationally acknowledged shoe-designer Bryan Oknyansky held a private viewing of his famed Heavy Metal Series to a select few at London’s LayaLina. In front of the flashing lights and dropped jaws, Bryan demonstrated the wonders a man can do, when he sets no limits to his imagination.
Over the last two years, Bryan has been exploring the techniques normally applied to car and aeroplane manufacturing. Out of that research, the Heavy Metal Series was born – a collection of a handful of shoes inspired by and produced as a fine sports car.
Born in LA and formally trained as an architect, Bryan fuses his academic background to his passion for unique footwear and creates the most exquisite shoes, hardly aimed to be worn as they are, but set to be a ground breaking innovation in the otherwise rather conservative and traditional field.
Based on our private studio visit just a few weeks ago, we can say there’s more when that came from – Bryan is the process of launching another out-of-this world collection of unique footwear and this time he looked no further for inspiration, then nature itself. The Born Again Series, done in collaboration with Sorapol will soon be available to view by the wider public – watch this space!
