Le WO Hotel (Wilson-Opera) is a new 30-bedroom boutique hotel situated in Paris’s prestigious and business-led St Augustin, nestling a short two minutes walk from Saint Lazare station. You can arrive here at smoothly from Gare du Nord on the E metro line or simply catch a short 20 minute taxi ride; the hotel is quick and easy to find nestling on a tiny little side street called Rue de Stockholm; I loved this location as there is a short cut into the back of Saint Lazare station showing off the original 1920’s design of the station with authentic stain glass windows.
I checked my bags a day ahead and was warmly welcomed to their very clean, modern and petite lounge area where you can help yourself to hot and cold refreshments and fresh fruits while kicking back briefly in their mini library and business centre. There is only a small but quirky sofa, one table and a computer to print but the minimal setup suited the activity-led purpose of my stay! I was assisted with maps and directions to all my desired locations, equipped with a newspaper and left armed with an additional copy of Time magazine before saying ‘Au Revoir’ before my official check-in the following day!
I was quickly handed my keys and told about the breakfast and various facilities in the hotel! The Wilson-Opera Hotel is a small boutique Hotel so you can take the stairs or there is one lift, which took me to my Superior Room on the 4th floor corner looking down over the crossroads and the top of the buildings; perfect to catch the buzzing atmosphere of the local Parisian’s! My bags I had previously dropped off were already waiting for me in the room- perfect arrival!
I was staying in a Superior Room. The size of my room was quite small but that is normally expected in Paris, I feel like the room would have been intimately tight if I hadn’t been solo on this stay however the bathroom was perfect, almost half of the size of the bedroom with monochrome flooring, heated towels, hairdryer and an exciting range of L’Occitane products to test. I enjoyed a turquoise floral bath thanks to the generous selection of l’Occitane treats, I over heated myself a little and went to open the windows which were from floor to ceiling, revealing a picturesque view of the outside and also myself- The French can be so naughty!!
The rooms were peaceful and quiet thanks to the double glazing and come with complimentary wifi, a plentiful wardrobe, complimentary safety box, small mini bar and tea facilities, which I loved as I have a healthy green tea addiction and had bought a delicious bag in Monmarte! There is also a healthy array of channels for free on built in with the LCD & Cable TV.
My stay included breakfast, which you can have delivered to the room (Highly Recommend) or you can enjoy a more extensive offering in the basement. The breakfast is self-service offering a continental breakfast as well as delicious French pastries and tea and coffee facilities! The breakfast in the basement was ample and delicious although I am not the biggest fan of being below ground and having a lift right next to where I eat but the lady looking after the room was extremely uplifting and attended to everyone’s needs with pleasure! I would definitely stick to breakfast in bed- they give you everything and you can sit from your room and enjoy the view!
The WO Hotel offers an ideal luxury feel package for the perfect budget trip to Paris with a friend or as a couple. I whizzed around the city and knew it like the back of my hand due to the fantastic over ground and metro links and was happy to experience the warm employees and team at the hotel. The WO are willing to go above and beyond for the guests, offering the option to preorder flowers and chocolates for their arrival, as well as providing an in-room massage service and rooms with private terraces boasting views of the Eiffel Tower. Bicycle hire is available directly in front of hotel to give guests a truly authentic experience of Paris, while the 24-hour reception ensures guests’ every needs are catered for, day and night.
