If you’ve ever eaten at M, you’ll know that they’re all about amazing cuts of meat cooked to perfection. You’ll also know the place is about much more than meat. But why limit that kind of enjoyment to eating out? M have just launched a cookbook and now you can recreate the magic at home.
Whether you drooled over their wagyu beef tartare before or worked your way through their South African rib-eye, it’s more than likely left you wanting more. One visit to M is never enough but if going twice a week for dinner isn’t an option, their stunning new cookbook is the next best thing.
Executive chef Mike Reid has put pen to paper and translated his creations into clear and concise recipes with beautiful colour photos to accompany each one. The book is divided into various mealtimes from breakfast to lunch and midnight feasts. There is also some interesting information about the M Restaurants and a section dedicated to wine, of course.
Don’t feel daunted by the masterpieces displayed in the book’s pictures, with the clear recipe instructions, chances of culinary success are high. I created the quinoa & coconut porridge for breakfast & the Argentinian spiraled rump steaks for dinner. Both turned out exceptionally well. Did they look at pretty as Mike’s creations? Probably not, but they tasted great and didn’t look bad for an amateur attempt.
There is some surprisingly accessible stuff for a high-end restaurant book and a range of dishes to try from top wagyu cut recipes to a simpler butternut squash risotto and delicious looking chicken wings. The M cookbook should be a staple in any meat-lovers kitchen, for anyone who loves cooking or anyone who simply wants to drool over amazing pictures of incredible-looking food.
