If you love a bit of classical music and delicious food, then tune into The Ivy Kensington Brassiere for its latest offering.
The perfectly appointed restaurant has crafted a special menu around this year’s BBC Proms.
We checked into the eatery on a Sunday evening at 6pm before an 8pm concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
With it being a warm evening, we decided to take a table in the tucked-away terrace area.
To kick things off, we decided to try the two musical inspired cocktails.
The Strawberry Symphony features a delicious mix of Chase vodka, strawberry syrup, lemon juice, watermelon cubes and grenadine, while the Classical Lady is a blend of Beefeater gin, elderflower cordial, prosecco, lemon juice, soda and fresh sage leaves.
Both hit the spot perfectly and we made a swift choice on the order of things to come, with timing on the brain.
Over the weekend the pre-Proms set menu isn’t on offer so we chose from the main spread.
We decided to share a portion of creamy burrata and asparagus with truffle hollandaise.
For mains, I opted for the summery-sounding lobster and watermelon salad, while my companion plumped for the traditional 7oz fillet steak.
When it comes to timing on the terrace, things might need a little caressing as the kitchen is a good walk away but everything arrived in good time in the end and the service was on point – as were the flavours.
The lobster watermelon salad is a must-try if you make it to this spot before the end of summer, and the truffle hollandaise will get you licking the little silver jug clean.
I was assured the steak was perfect but didn’t get a look in before it was gone.
Looking at my watch, we didn’t have long to go but we put in a sneaky order for dessert along with a couple more vodka olive martinis – the Ivy is one of my favourite spots in town for martinis with a good pour and beautifully green buttery olives.
Our sweet treat arrived in good time and we polished it off equally as quick.
We opted for some scoops of vanilla ice cream with some VERY moreish molten salted caramel sauce.
The Ivy, no matter which location you hit, is always a treat.
But its Prom collaboration is extra jolly – the musical-inspired floral arrangement adorning the Kensington location is also deserving of a drum roll!
