The internet’s new favourite coffee drink, The Dalgona, can now be enjoyed with a delicious rum twist, thanks to the team over at Aluna Coconut.
Originating from South Korea, The Dalgona has become a viral sensation during self-isolation. It has been dubbed an ‘upside-down cappuccino’ and can easily be made at home with instant coffee, sugar and hot water in lieu of your morning takeaway coffee.
Coffee and rum have always been a match made in flavour heaven and Aluna Coconut’s unique take on the creamy coffee is the perfect brunch accompaniment or after-dinner tipple.
As well as ‘spiking’ the coffee with a shot of their coconut rum, Aluna’s recipe also calls for coconut milk which not only enhances the flavour of the rum but also results in a delicious vegan serve.
Fancy giving it a whirl? Here’s how…
The Daluna Recipe
25ml of Aluna Coconut Rum
2 tbsp instant coffee or espresso powder
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp very hot water
400ml chilled Coconut Milk (we recommend Vita Coco)
1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1. Add the coffee, sugar and hot water to a medium mixing bowl.
2. Whip the coffee using an electric whisk until it is light brown, fluffy and a stiff peak forms.
3. Pour the rum and coconut milk into a glass and briskly stir in a spoonful of maple syrup.
4. Spoon dollops of the frothed coffee mixture on top.
