One of our favourite South Bank haunts, Skylon is celebrating the return of Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love, with a five course tasting menu during the month of August.
We went along to sample this delicious menu where each course was based around aphrodisiac ingredients, including chilli and cucumber in sea bream carpaccio, cucumber, fennel, lime, chilli; pomegranate in roasted duck breast (duck is also the Chinese symbol for love), pickled kohlrabi, pomegranate and chocolate and cherries in dark chocolate and cherry mousse, cherry sorbet dessert.
The ‘Southbank Love’ cocktail on arrival, (part of the offering) is a great intro to the delicious menu, each course is delightful and the mains of duck (tender and juicy) and stone bass (melts in your mouth) a dream.
The five course tasting menu is also very reasonable priced at £59 per person including a ‘Southbank Love’ cocktail on arrival or £108 per person for additional wine pairing. Skylon will also donate £1 per booking to Southbank Centre’s Let the Light In campaign, helping to support vital refurbishment works to the iconic Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery (so you are contributing to a good cause whilst dining on the all of the deliciousness).
We absolutely love the chance to visit Skylon and the tasting menu is a great draw to go back for seconds – it’s definitely not one to be missed! Book now as the menu is only around for a another week (finishes August 31st)
