It’s time to get your daily SHOT!
In the beautiful calm backstreets of Bridal Lane nestles a new contender amongst the roster of superfood eateries sprouting in London. SHOT! Stands apart from its immediate competition in that is proprietors are not your de jour
‘Deliciously Ella’ types, but is instead run by a pair of clean living passionate gents, Asad Naqvi (DJ) and Rahil Malik (ex-banker).
Their Amsterdam-inspired venue, designed by Architects Wilson Holloway is the new vibrant and modern home for health lovers seeking to nourish themselves to the max. I felt immediately calmed by the interior, with its mood cleansing white Dutch tiles walls surrounding the space like a cocoon. The calm white backing is the ideal contrast to the bright neon art and surrounding colours of bottled elixirs and edibles on offer. Founder DJ Asad has pimped out the music with bespoke playlists to enhance the dining experience and energise you during your visit.
The concept aims to educate the hard working, high stress professionals in order to help support the demands of their jobs and therefore offer better immunity and wellbeing. In their given professions Asad and Rahil have worked in these challenging environments for years. Off the back of their experiences, they have been created some secret recipes just for you.
At SHOT, you can enjoy hot and cold meals, delicious smoothes, juices and handmade dairy-free and gluten-free desserts for vegans and celiacs. Their 10 promises for healthy food are essential to their beliefs and food philosophy. This includes clean cooking methods, hormone free ingredients, using good fats, natural sugars etc Read full list of promises HERE .
To start I enjoyed an ‘Energy Smoothie.’ A creamy and rich blend of almond milk, dates, almond butter, coconut, coconut oil and maca. After this, I devoured their Fish Thai green curry, it was sublime, satisfying and light. One of their signature dishes I was also recommended was their Spicy Chicken Pho made from a house made “bone broth”, sous-vide chicken, and gluten free sweet potato and buckwheat noodles.
Don’t forget to try my favourite discovery, the ‘Ma’s Ba’. Asad gave me one for the road; I discovered it in my bag the next day. Having not had breakfast, I peeled open an organic white paper wrapping, sealed with a shot Sticker and consumed a mouth-watering mesh of cashews, dates, maple syrup, cacao powder and vanilla pods coated in a crispy layer of raw chocolate!
