SALVATORE’S BAR AT THE PLAYBOY CLUB – The Luxy Cocktail Warren

SALVATORE’S BAR AT THE PLAYBOY CLUB – The Luxy Cocktail Warren

I’ve always fancied myself as a bit of a Playboy… The smoking jacket and slippers kind of course, rather than the fluffy tail and tits kind, but either way, it’s always been rather tempting.

And tempted I was, down into their luxy cocktail warren in glam-town, Mayfair.

Salvatore’s Bar, the haunt named after Salvatore Calabrese himself (the original cocktail legend) is a shrine to one of-a-kind spirits, that allow you to ‘taste history’ with some ancient bottles on sale such as the 1796 Napoleon Reserve.

Being a venue based upon a naughty mag, some might expect the cocktail list to be heavy on the ice and reminiscent of something served on a package holiday in ’98, conversely the list was extremely good.

Seriously taking the edge off of Wednesday night, their cocktail list gave the classics a heft spin. The Negroni Sveguato (served in a diddy little metal moka pot) was stirred with Italian moka coffee and garnished with a big island of ice and a fleck of orange peel. Next up was the Spicy Fifty, sweet yet sour with a fiery kick at the end served with a red chili. Finally we sampled Salvatores signature drink, the Breakfast Martini which would be a great way to start the day, with a nicely balanced amount of sweetness from the marmalade.

Our bunny host for the evening (Cat) was most ravishing. We spoke about the dos and don’ts of bunny hood, bunny training and tail woes. Dressed in Pink for cancer awareness month the bunny’s made sure that guests enjoyed themselves and that their needs were exceeded all evening.
