Longtime lover of music and hungry for new sounds, french born Remi Mazet found himself immersed in the electronic music scene in London 2008.His production talents were first recognised by Hot Waves and La Vie en Rose with whom he has shared a couple of releases and there is lots more exciting stuff on the way.
Having carefully constructed a collection of diverse productions Remi devised an electronic live set which showcases charming parallels of pure timeless music. A sexy mix of nudisco, house, deep house if we have to brand it.
In just a few months from his debut he had played his ever evolving set at venues and parties such as Nouveau Casino in Paris, Kubicle and Lokee in London to name a few.
From his live performance to his production Remi reveals his ideas in a musical language. With style and sensitivity he transports the dancefloor into his world.
Where are you and what are you going to be doing today?
I’m in Liverpool, where I’m living at the moment, I’ve got some music to finish and send today so I will spend my day in the studio. But I would spend my day in the studio anyway, I love it there.
What is your earliest memory of music?
My earliest memory of music… the snares drums from the 1980’s, those very powerful snares drums with an open reverb on them. I still can’t escape them.
Can you tell us about your current releases?
I was busy with my live set lately so my releases have taken a bit of a back seat.
But some really cool offers came to me so I will have :A track on a new compilation coming in November. An unmixed, various artists compilation called Phono Obscura and another track on Lokee Musik which is a collaboration with my childhood best mate, Guilhem Monin, That should be out soon as well.
What’s your favourite hangout in London/Worldwide?
I think My favourite hang out in London is Hackney Wick, I lived there for the past two years, you got Victoria park as well as the canal.
Most of my friend live around there so we can walk from a place to an other just hang out or party or make music in each other studios. The neighbourhood is very special, they are mainly into a creative career so it is really good to meet inspiring people or just to share skills and find people to work with and the weekend the all area turns into a big party.
Worldwide I used to love bar25, it is such a fun place to party where you could even stay in a bungalow and eat really good food.
I do like Ibiza before it gets too busy there, But my favourite place to hang out worldwide is definitely the Alps, I don’t do it enough lately but I really love this snowboards holidays either with friend or with family or both, they are the best times.
Any new bands you are currently listening to we need to know about?
I’m not really checking the new stuff much, I love the old stuff a lot more. The most recent band I’ve been into are Fine Squad and 40 Thieves, a few years ago. I’m always finding stuff I like but it’s not new.
What’s in store for the next year?
I have been asked to do 4 Eps for 4 different very exciting new labels (sorry I can not say more about this yet). It should keep me busy in the studio for a while.
I’ve just started to approach labels with my music, i hope that I will end up with more releases for next year.
I also just started to collaborate with a singer, and a bass player, I think I would love to turn the show into a live band act one day soon.
What’s your favorite thing to do on a Sunday?
Sunday is the day of I take from the studio so i love to do anything fun and relaxing, good food, park, play some music, close friends, but I also love a good day time party if there is something good going on.
What do you do to get away from everything?
Since i started 5 or 6 years ago, Music is the way I get away from everything, I guess it is a reason why I have been so hooked up and I’m doing it so much, your mind focuses on one thing only and relaxes completely on the rest. Like meditation in a way.
What was the last thing that really made you stop and stare?
The crowd when I played at a party called Colors in London. The party has such a cool vibe with a great following, an amazing concept and superb music. The atmosphere is almost tribal.
