The MTV Staying Alive Foundation has just announced that London-based The Future Tense will once again curate the RE:DEFINE benefit art exhibition and auction in Dallas this September 2012.
It takes place at the Goss-Michael Foundation in Texas, founded by George Michael and his partner Kenny Goss, and famous for its promotion of British Contemporary art. Artists this year include Michael Craig-Martin, Gérard Rancinan, Ryan McGinness, Ralf Kaspers, Jim Houser, Mat Collishaw, Ryan Gander, Charming Baker, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Chuck Elliott, James Hugonin and Jen Stark. The exhibition will also include a major public art installation by emerging British artist, Lee Baker, and the VIP gala reception will feature an auction led by Simon de Pury, a painting performance by David White and an exciting live music act. All money raised from RE:DEFINE goes to The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, a charity that fights the stigma, spread and threat of the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Last year the event raised $700,000 for the charity.
The Future Tense was founded by Ed Bartlett in 2009. It is a pioneering gallery that represents the interests of emerging contemporary artists and seeks to challenge preconceived notions of the traditional gallery space, delivering a rigorous, inspiring and engaging contemporary art programme to a discerning international audience.
