London’s famous Fish n’ Chip eatery Poppie’s are opening a new restaurant on Old Compton St with a batter recipe to boot. A chip off the old block, 74 year old Pat ‘Pop’ Newland is chuffed to be opening the new venue as he remembers ‘Although I’m an East End lad, Soho has always been an interesting and iconic part of London. I had a jellied eel stall on Rupert Street outside what was then the Rehearsal Rooms for a year in the 60s’.
Renowned for it’s 1950s aesthetics the new restaurant will follow suit in classic style and live music.
The fish comes fresh from Billingsgate every day, Maris Piper chips are hand-cut and wallies and mushy peas make up the menu. Quintessentially British, Poppie’s bring a snippet of seaside to our lovely Soho.
