As you’re seated by the waiter in any restaurant, the first thing to draw you in is the food on your neighbours table. Your mind’s made up at this point whether your dining experience will be a hit or miss…
This is exactly what happened to us as we sat down at P.F Chang’s Asian Table in Covent Garden, one look at that Dynamite Shrimp and we were sold!
You may have heard the name before, that’s because P.F Chang is widely known and enjoyed across the United States.
It’s a pan-Asian restaurant launching it’s first central London residency and over the next couple of years, it’ll be expanding with more locations across the city.
The kitchen is fronted by a Nobu-trained chef. The menu is broken down in to starters, mains and sides but don’t let that fool you, all dishes are made to share and come to your table as and when they’re cooked. Most dishes are labelled spicy, but we found them all manageable.
The Dynamite Shrimp and Tempura Cauliflower were the highlights, each made mega exciting by the sauces accompanying them. The Shrimp took it’s lead with a Sriracha Aioli and the Cauliflower got it’s zing with a Korean Gochujang sauce.
The Lobster and Shrimp Spring Rolls were another hit. Served in a lettuce leaf adding crunch, we dunked them in Thai Curry Aioli for a real flavour burst.
Snacking on salty, spicy Edamame and sipping on Merlot in between courses, we gulped as the table crowded with extra dishes like the Pork Dumplings, Singapore Noodles and Mongolian Beef. Yes, we ate a lot!
After a short break, we melted in to our seats and just about managed to finish the Clementine Custard Tart. Thick, rich custard could’ve tipped us over the edge, but the crunchy Crème brûlée top and the light zing from the Clementine made it all too easy to consume.
The Bloom Room located downstairs is the perfect opportunity for *that* insta shot. The walls are adorned with cherry blossom, visitors have been know to sip on sake cocktails and indulge in Japanese desserts like the Cherry Blossom Cheesecake whilst snapping away.
P.F Chang’s is the perfect spot for a casual dinner or post-shopping chill out, we can’t wait to see what’s next in store for the popular pan-Asian eatery.
