If you haven’t been to Oblix yet you really should! We can’t recommend this wonderful restaurant enough, located on the 32nd floor of The Shard – there are numerous reasons to check Oblix out. We’re not just talking the views! They have a fabulous weekend brunch which we’ve covered before and we’re pleased to know is still available. This visit though we were there to check out the new Sunday Roast menu that has been recently introduced. We love a roast and had high hopes for what Oblix were offering, including; suckling pig, chicken with truffle, rib of beef and rotisserie duck with all the trimmings. Mmmm!
Meat lovers will be super pleased. As we eyed up other diners plates we personally found it difficult to decide what to have. In the end, after much dileberation we both went for our go to option, the rib eye on the bone which tempted us a tad more more than the others. We also made a mental note to come back for the suckling pig and then the rotisserie duck, in that order. As it was Sunday we decided it was going to be a day of indulgence so ordered two very delicious starters, king crab with sauerkraut and saffron hollandaise and a lobster and scallop ceviche, plus Blood Mary’s to wash them down with.
The rib-eye on the bone was succulent and we’re told that all the meats are cooked slowly across Oblix’s signature josper oven, charcoal grill and rotisserie. All are accompanied by a selection of traditional side dishes and guests are invited to choose from beef-fat roast potatoes or horseradish mashed potatoes with spring onion & chives – we picked the roasties. Then you have a choice of roasted vegetables or spinach & gruyere – we ordered both and shared. As all good roasts should, this one also comes with Yorkshires and a generous helping of rich gravy.
Believe it or not, we finished our epic roast with a Brownie Sundae which we shared before slipping into a food coma and taking a long walk home to walk off some of the goodness off!
Oblix, have elevated this British classic to another level. Literally, couldn’t think of a more perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon with friends or family.
The Oblix Sunday Roast will be available on Sundays from 12pm – 2.45pm in the Restaurant only.
Prices start from £32.
