NO TWO SPOTS ARE THE SAME: Yayoi Kusama X Louis Vuitton collection revealed
Yayoi Kusama is one of the most recognised and prolific artists to emerge from the ashes of post-war Japan. Kusama’s 60-year career was celebrated at London’s Tate Modern with a major retrospect that closed in early June and the artist has also teamed up with French fashion label Louis Vuitton for a series of projects that merge fashion and art. Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs first met 83-year-old Kusama in 2006 and became enraptured by her “endless energy” and her ability to create, through her work, a ‘world that never ends’.
The collaboration is celebrated with a fashion collection to be sold at 7 Louis Vuitton pop-up store across the world from New York (in their SoHo boutique) to Hong Kong, but also Ngee Ann City in Singapore and Shinjuku in Tokyo. Between August 23rd and 24th Vuitton will open two important pop-up stores in Paris at the Printemps department stores, and in London at Selfridges. The London department store will get new windows courtesy of Kusama, which will be unveiled to the public on August 24th.
Ahead of the launch in Selfridges, Louis Vuitton revealed the collection we have all been waiting for for the public this morning:
