Morrissey, the poet laureate for disenfranchised bedroom dwellers and all-round purveyor of intellectual melancholy, is depicted in a new book of rare photographs taken by rock photographer Lawrence Watson.
Released this August to celebrate 25 years since Watson last worked with Morrissey on the sleeve of his single, Interesting Drug, the book charts the rise of The Smiths; from the band’s peak period in 1982-1986 to Morrissey’s fledgling solo career in the late 1980’s.
The majority of the images contained in the book are previously unseen, and due to Watson‘s close relationship with Morrissey, the book comes with captions giving insight in to one of the most enigmatic men in rock history.
