British Brasserie, bar and cocktail lounge Mews of Mayfair in Lancashire Court, continues to serve modern cuisine in the heart of London with the launch ‘Roast and Toast’ menu. Unique to Sundays it offers you two courses for £20 or three for £25, if you fancy unlimited Bellini’s, Mimosa’s and Bloody Mary’s then it’s a further £15.
We decided to jump straight in and kick start our Sunday lunch with bellini’s (lychee or peach option) and ordered our starter; Whipped Chicken Livers, Plums, Puffed Wild Rice, hungry though we were we were we couldn’t have been happier with our first choice. The chicken livers were divine, beautifully presented and were the tastiest we’d had in a very long time, all of the combinations complemented the dish wonderfully. Silviu our friendly host’s first recommendation was a hit and we couldn’t wait to tuck into the roasts, opting for the Orchard Farm Pork Chop, Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes, Root Vegetables and Roast Sirloin of South Devon Dry Aged Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes, Root Vegetables. As far as roasts go these were especially impressive, the meat was cooked to perfection and the generous root veggies equally exquisite. As ever after a roast we struggled to move so when Silviu came back over to offer us dessert we hesitated, gave ourselves a few minutes to digest and we decided to share the Summer Fruit Eton Mess and a glass of dessert wine (Muscato) which proved to be the perfect end to our perfect leisurely Sunday.
Mews of Mayfair is pretty chilled on Sundays and is great for spending a few hours eating hearty traditional British food (with a modern twist) and drinking fizz (throughout our meal the bellini’s flowed freely) or Bloody Mary’s if you prefer. We’d definitely recommend this for a roast and if you like your drinks bottomless it’s great value for money too.
We will no doubt be escaping here in the colder months for regular ‘roast and toast’ trips…
