To celebrate St Valentines, popular pop-up proprietors, The Robin Collective are opening Marshmallow Apothecary in Kingly Court, Carnaby Street’s hub of excellent eateries and boutique shops. February is a tough month, the chilly, grey, winter days drag on, ‘flu is ubiquitous and then before you know it, you’re into the social minefield of Valentine’s. If you’re in a relationship, you want to do something fun and unique and if you’re not, you have to suffer the stuffed, heart-holding teddies gloating at you from every shop window.
From February 12th for just two weeks, the shop will open its doors, offering free consultations and marshmallow prescriptions to visitors. Herbal remedies for anything from common colds to a lack of libidinousness, all come in delicious marshmallow form tailored for you. Mary Poppins, practically perfect au pair and healthcare pundit, comments “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down” and that’s exactly the formula used here. Flavours include: Rose, Ginger & Chilli (aphrodisiac)Chocolate, Coffee & Caffeine (pick-me-up)Elderberry & Horehound (for colds and ‘flu) Lemon & Raspberry (anti-scurvy)
Part sugary pharmacy, part cosy lounge, the pop-up also features a room filled with giant marshmallow pillows making it the ultimate haven to enjoy the cocktail and marshmallow combination in. The Marshmallow Apothecary is a great place for a unique date or to pick up a bespoke gift (they’ll prescribe the recipient based on your advice) or simply a fun place to hang out with friends and complain about smug couples over a drink. There’ll be activities on and off throughout, such as free card making and quizzes.
