Venturing to Lidl for some swashbuckling fun might sound random but stay with me on this one….
Experimental maestros Bompas and Parr have come up with a new venture to keep you on your toes – or certainly within grasp of your poncho.
The creative geniuses have teamed up with Captain Morgan rum to take Londoners on a nautical adventure to an underground paradise: the Lost Lagoon, which is now revealed to be deep in the earth in Shepherd’s Bush.
Without revealing too much, we ventured down to their immersive experience on a Thursday evening and were left in a state of bewilderment.
It was a bit like the Magic Roundabout had taken to sea, with colourful sets, colourful characters and a high injection of whimsy.
Firstly, you’re instructed to find Lidl within the West 12 shopping mall and from there, you will find further information.
After checking in with a delightful host, we were led to the bowels of the shopping centre, blindfolded and escorted to the fanciful lagoon.
The ticket comes with two drinks included and we had one refreshing rum mix before boarding our little rowing boat.
Regrettably I didn’t invest in a poncho, but if you’re planning on wearing trousers / pants I advise you do – as I ended up a little soggy!
Those who are intrepid enough to explore this underground waterway, will be required to find all of the ingredients of the perfect punch, by rowing around to little island-style stations.
Luckily we managed to steer ourselves in the right direction and we were rewarded at the end with an entraining encounter with Captain Morgan himself, plus a bowlful of punch – complete with a ladle!
A trip to the Lost Lagoon certainly beats the average bar excursion…
The Lost Lagoon with run until April 7 with tickets available from £20 via www.lostlagoon.org.
