Think of the word ‘brunch’ and you’ll probably lose yourself for a moment in dreams of pancakes, mapled bacon and scrambled eggs on toast, complete with cappuccino. Although London’s been all over Peruvian cuisine for a while now, with Pisco Sours and Ceviche becoming post-work staples in Soho, the unique flavours might not have tickled your brunch tastebuds yet. But they soon will.
Introducing Lima Floral’s recently launched brunch menu – three courses of ‘Andean breakfast (for the early bird bruncher) or a ‘Long Lunch’ for palettes ready for something more intense. If you’re visiting with a friend (and suffer with regular and unbearable symptoms of food envy), we recommend getting both and sharing everything so that you don’t miss out. Here are our menu highlights:
We loved the unique Zapallo smoothie, made up of blended cinnamon, cereal grains, pumpkin and vanilla yoghurt. If you’re in the mood for some fizz, you can opt for unlimited Prosecco for £10.
We got some healthy breakfast inspiration from the eucalyptus, maca root, honey, and bee pollen fruits mixed with yogurt and the creamy quinoa porridge. From the Long Lunch menu, the intense flavour of raw tuna with lemongrass, coriander and a tangy chilli mayonnaise won us over.
Perhaps the simplest thing on the breakfast menu, the perfectly dense potato pancakes were rich with an unusual aniseed flavour. If you opt for the Long Lunch, you’ll have to pick one main course. After asking two members of staff for their recommendations, we were convinced to try the melt-in-the-mouth Beef Lomo. We suggest you do too, but make sure you pair with the traditional and beautifully smoky eco-dried potatoes.
With both menu options you get to sample a selection of bite-sized desserts so there’s no need to agonise. The vanilla sugar Dulce di Leche cookies are especially good when dipped into the rich cacoa-coffee ice cream.
If we could start every weekend with brunch from within Lima Floral’s buzzy, colourful restaurant, we probably would. The service was amazing despite having a full house, the food was delicious (see above) and, perhaps most importantly, excellent value for money considering its Covent Garden location.
Brunch at Lima Floral is served on weekends from 10:30am to 3:30pm. The Andean breakfast is £18 per person, and the three-course brunch menu is £30 per person.
