We always wait with bated breath for the arrival of our favourite residency, but that wait is almost over as The House of Peroni Residency returns next week with a six-week stint 19th May- 1st July. Lifestyle brand Peroni is putting together the finishing touches to the House at its new location, Proud East, Haggerston, which promises to keep us entertained with new dining experiences and exciting event programmes.
The fantastic private dining experience will also return this year and this time critically acclaimed chef and Master of Taste, Francesco Mazzei (Sartoria and previously L’Anima), will be at the helm, showcasing his ‘Mezzogiorno’ signature cooking style. The theme this year is, ‘For the love of Italy’ (Amare l’Italia), and the five-course ‘feasting’ menu is a delectable homage to Italy and the stunning ingredients unique to the country’s rich landscape. We’ve had a sneak peek and we can confirm you’ll be in for a treat (we recommend loose clothing). Guests all sit together on communal tables for this sumptuous Italian feast, which is inspired by the family gatherings Francesco grew up with in the southern Italian region of Calabria.
This experience really is the gift that keeps giving, everything is out of this world delicious. Our highlights included Salame all’Anatra (home cured duck salami with cherries), tortellini filled with the softest burrata, liquorice-cured baccala (salt cod), actually, who are we kidding there wasn’t a single dish that we wouldn’t go back for.
This dining experience will take place three evenings a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and is priced at a very reasonable £65 per person plus booking fee (including yummy Peroni Nastro Azzurro). We can’t recommend this enough and are booking ourselves in for another round.
Aside from the culinary experience (which we always look forward to), we know we can always rely on the Residency for an immersive, multi-sensory journey of sights, smells and tastes to experience all things Italian. Here’s our wish list in order of priorities (of course we’ll tick all the boxes with a few visits):
