Huawei sub-brand Honor has announced the Watch GS Pro and we got a sneak-peek of the do-it-all accessory with its arrival on the European market.
On the downside, this smartwatch is pretty chunky and better suited to guys than gals.
But design aside, the touchscreen watch is decked out with a bunch of features to keep you busy.
It has been designed with the adventurer in mind, with standout perks including 25 hours of battery life and the ability to withstand extremes, from minus 40 degrees Celcius to heavy rain.
Instead of leaving a trail of breadcrumbs, you can use the watch’s built-in satellite navigation system if you’re out exploring and need to find your way home.
And you can plan your days ahead, as I recently did while camping in Austria, with the watch displaying a bunch of useful outdoor information, including sunrise and sunset times, moonrise and moonset times, tidal phases, and bad weather alerts.
On the fitness side of things, the Honor Watch GS Pro is pretty slick.
It features more than 100 workout modes covering cover everything from multiple running, walking, swimming, and cycling modes, to triathlon, strength, skiing, rowing, and elliptical.
I’m no skier, but for fans of the slopes, Honor says the watch can also act as your ‘personal skiing coach’.
There a number of modes that can be accessed with detailed data including the number of runs, distance, trail time, maximum speed, maximum steepness, vertical ascent and descent, altitude, heart rate, and calories burned.
Continuing on the fitness theme, like the Apple Watch, the Honor Watch GS Pro can provide 24/7 heart rate monitoring, all-night sleep tracking, and blood oxygen level measurements.
When it comes to communication, the watch can be used like a phone to answer calls on the go.
And on the entertainment side of things, the watch can store more than 500 songs that can be played via a Bluetooth connection to a speaker or headphones.
Overall, this is a robust accessory for the outdoorsman or woman. It’s a little masculine for my liking, but I was impressed by the range of features.
