HELIOT STEAK HOUSE: A meaty brunch is our favourite kind

The lure of a good steak is always too much to resist! Who would have thought you’d get us to a casino outside of Vegas but here we are in the afternoon no less, sampling meaty deliciousness in the form of an All-American brunch, complete with Heliot Steak House’s signature juicy steaks at the Hippodrome.

Most of the menu is priced at the amazing price of £7 per dish with the exception of a few and of course the steaks. There’s some interesting straight out of the USA options too with dishes such as Country Fried Steak with sausage gravy, fried eggs and French fries, or one for the hangovers (the signature) chilli fried egg and bacon brioche roll with spicy chutney and rocket, or classic American style pancakes. Bloody Mary’s kept us going as we pondered on what to have and as tempting as these all were, we were drawn to the award-winning USDA prime steaks especially the rib-eye, choosing that instead (after all it was voted London’s best steak restaurant by customers). Our lovely waitress Kinga also persuaded us to start with the prawn cocktail which we’re so glad she did, juicy prawns, Marie Rose sauce and avocado made for a divine combination. To accompany our steaks she recommended the American classic mac and cheese side which was another fine choice from her – the mac and cheese comprised of 5 cheeses including a smokey cheese and a delicious parmesan top and was one of the best we’d had.

Needless to say we left content and super impressed with our ‘meaty’ brunch experience and as Head Chef of Heliot Steak House, Ioannis Grammeros, says, “America is the true home of brunch, and it’s been exciting to see it making its way over to London over the past few years. I wanted to bring the best of the American brunch to Heliot Steak House, and have included my favourite dishes on the menu”.

Who are we to argue, the whole experience is very reminiscent of Vegas so with this you have the option of bringing a little flavour of Vegas to London and maybe even try a hand in the casino if you’re feeling lucky!!
