Ahoy matey- we have a My bank holiday floating pop-up, just what the sun ordered! London’s first organic cruising cafe is celebrating its fifth birthday in style, with the launch of a brand new ‘butty’ (an unpowered boat) that will allow up to fifty people to enjoy dinner parties at the location of their choice along the Inland Waterways; including all canals and rivers in and around the London area.
The Sandwich Barge was established by boating entrepreneur, Lorraine Fox, in 2008 and has long been delighting visitors to the canal with delicious delicacies ranging from rich vegan fayre to rare ‘Wild Beef’ sandwiches, and all complimented by her famous cakes and infamous chai tea.
She is especially keen to make sure that all dietary requirements are catered for including those with intolerances to certain foods such as wheat/gluten and dairy.
She will be joined by nautical entertainment including folk and shanty bands, other local musicians and dancing wenches, as well as another canal side legend, juggler and unicyclist James Bentley who owns the butty and has been working hard to restore it for the event.
