If you’re looking to enjoy a festive cocktail in luxurious surroundings, look no further than the stylish Long Bar at the Sanderson Hotel, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland. You’ll be wowed by their beautiful floral instillation hanging above the bar, the tall trees dotted around and a snow machine which creates magical scenes of snowy intervals every fifteen minutes.
They have collaborated with Bombay Sapphire to create four gin-based winter cocktails on offer throughout the festive season. A particular highlight was their Snowman and the Hill cocktail which contained gin, coconut milk, koko kanu and lemon juice, served with a small marshmallow snowman on the side. It was indulgent and creamy; a true winter cocktail. Their Bubbly Reindeer was also delicious; a mix of gin, pink peppercorn, strawberry puree and Laurent-Perrier Champagne, served in a champagne flute.
Their festive bar menu is also a delight. We enjoyed skewered Brussel sprouts with bacon (which taste nothing like how your aunt cooks them), turkey fritters, butternut squash arrancini balls and melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek parcels. If you’re going to work through their winter cocktail menu (and we advise you do), the bar snacks are a must. They’ve turned festive flavours into delicious small sharing plates, designed to be enjoyed with drinks at the bar.
Before you leave, spend some time admiring the alternative Christmas Tree in the lobby of the hotel, made entirely of plasticine, designed by Gary Card. It matches the quirky style of the hotel and is a real talking point.
The winter menu will be available until 24th December 2017.
