It’s quite rare that we log things any more. Everything’s online, up in a cloud or served up by some sort of server. However very important things – we think you’ll agree – you write down with pen and ink. The old fashioned way.
Recipe books are such important scriptures. Passed down from generation of rascal to the next pool of gadabouts these taste poems or food & drink construction methods are the kind you must keep somewhere very safe indeed.
The latest drink building instructions we have come across are from the lovely lot at Fever-Tree.
Combining a kick of Havana Rum, and an aroma of midnight mass (the cloves and star anise) this slurper will give you enlightening jolt out of any mid-Xmas-not-quite-NYE mood you may have dozed off into.
You will need:
· 150ml Havana 7 Year Old
· 600ml Fever-Tree Ginger Beer
· 200ml Fever-Tree Ginger Ale
· 15-20 cloves
· 6-10 star anise
· 1 vanilla pod
· Orange peel
1)Gently heat the rum, ginger beer and ginger ale in a suitable pot for 5-10mins (whatever you do, do not bring to the boil)
2)Meanwhile, slice vanilla pod from top to bottom and add to the pot along with the rest of the spices and stir.
3)Add a few twists of orange peel and gently stir to taste. Heat for a further 5 minutes (still ensuring liquid does not come to boil).
4) Ladle punch into a small glass tankards or nice little mugs and serve with the spices and peel.
5) Make sure you share your results with @fevertreemixers
