FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS – British Airways lands in Shoreditch
If, like me, you mainly associate dear old British Airways with out-of-date salted peanuts, grumpy air-hostesses and knees in your jaws, then this little pop-up setting camp on Shoreditch High Street in April might just change your mind.
British Airways is popping up in East London from the 4th to the 17th of April with a temporary space named BA2012 (yeah, really!) housing a gallery, cinema and dining lounge. The pop-up is created with the purpose to celebrate the Britons who have collaborated with the airline on their new flight designs from acting legend Richard E Grant to the rebellious YBA Tracey Emin and experimental chef Heston Blumenthal.
Expect first class dining (Michelin-starred chef Simon Hulstone has created the menu for the dining lounge), smooth service and a turbulent time. The airline-themed venue has been exclusively designed to recreate a premium flying experience, and will offer guests a sneak preview of the designs and innovations before they are rolled out on flights from April. Bookings can be made from March 19 here.
