DREAMGIRLS: incandescent vocals dripping with Swarovski crystals

Meet The Dreams – a young, talented trio – Effie, Lorrell and Deena – singing their way through the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history dominated by the civil rights movement, the assassination of US President John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King. A style era that gave us drainpipe jeans, capri pants and plaid down shorts; Beehives, Afros and The Pixie. Yes, we’re talking big hair. And on stage, more than one million Swarovski crystals, adorning 275 costumes and three crystal curtains. Wall flowers, take care. This is amount of soulful dazzle and shine will vibrate right through you.

The show joins the three friends as they embark upon a musical rollercoaster through the fickle world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit. An extraordinary tale, adapted into the Oscar winning motion picture in 2006 of the same name, starring Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx.

Unlike the film, the stage sets the scene for unforgettable, enormous, spine-tingling voices over classic songs that (warning) has audiences grappling for a tissue (as we were) as well as the stranger’s hand in the neighbouring seat. ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’, ‘I Am Changing’, ‘Listen’ and ‘One Night Only’ all so powerful performed live in the intimate setting of the world famous Savoy Theatre.

The multi award winning, critically acclaimed West End production Dreamgirls runs at the Savoy Theatre until 12 January 2019 dreamgirlswestend.com/

At every performance there will be 125 accessibly priced seats for £25 or under available in advance, including 15 £20 Front Row Lottery tickets available on the day exclusively through the TodayTix app.Dreamgirls, Savoy Theatre, Strand, London WC2R 0ET
