About the Wine
Nic Smith, Wine Director & Sommelier for Experimental Group, has developed the wine list.
The wine list will also propose big names from France and all over the world such as the full bodied and timeless Petrus and Chateau Margaux from Bordeaux, the sensual and elegant Burgundy wines of la Romanée Conti and Georges Roumier as well as the crisp, mineral and crystal clean Chablis of Francois Raveneau and Vincent Dauvissat.
The list will also offer a large selection from international winemakers, from the velvety and slightly sweet rieslings of Egon Müller from the steep, cold slopes of the Mosel vineyard in Germany, to the salty and mouth-watering Assyrtico made by the biodynamic winery of Hatzidakis in Santorini, Greece, caressed all year long by the relentless Mediterranean sea breeze.
New discoveries from rising stars will include:
– The sun-filled, sexy wines from the slopes of the Etna volcano in Sicily by 2012 Italian winemaker of the year Vito Catania of Azienda Gulfi,
– The smoky, deep, dense andunsulfited wines of Jean-Michel Stephan from Cote-Rotie in the Rhone valley
– The 90 year old cariñena vines that sit 650 meters above sea level which compose the rich and comforting wines of Dominik Uber from the Terroir al Limit winery in Priorat, Spain
– The complex, slow-aged terroir orientated wines of Mounir Saouma from the Lucien Lemoine winery in Burgundy, which offer a staggering 60 1er cru, and 30 grand cru wines, each with its own style and personality to best represent the land it is grown on
The idea behind Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels is to bring to light the best and brightest of the winemaking world and to offer world-class nectars to dazzle the discriminating connoisseur as well as introductory wines for those who are starting their journey into this wonderful world.
