The Cheshire Cat cum ring master of the pop-up world Madame Christabel is a living and breathing dream. Inviting you into her luxy East London apartment her latest pop-up made us feel instantly at home.
Greeted with acid purple popcorn and a dainty glass of pomegranate infused champagne we took a pew at her play hard ‘Edible Playground“.
Creating a dining room/playroom hybrid, the tables are decked out with lego, bubbles and story books, to instantly get the guests in on the folie.
The first pretty little saucer to land in front of us was a board game for guests who were anything but bored. A rhye bread base was decorated with checks of cheese and garnished with a sweet potato ladder and a red pepper snake.
Equipped with mini shovel, bucket and a big ol’ troff of quinoa (keemwahhh) diners were set with the task of making the best sandcastle. To add to the finish of the castle guests were given a selection of edible trimmings such as purple eggs (to represent play dough), green beans and carrots (see our results below).
Next came the paint your own chicken, simply pick up the paint brush which is laid next to your cutlery and get creative with that bird.
Finally pudding was served; a fluffy chocolate mouse that was served with shortbread Jenga fingers for the dipping and decorated with an o-so-rich dark chocolate lego cube and invaded by golden walnut bugs.
So much more that just a pop up; Christabel’s Edible Playground is an indulgent hub, which invites your inner and outer child to dine together in harmony.
