BRINGING IN THE BIG GUNS: H&M collaborates with Maison Martin Margiela

A look from the Maison Martin Margiela, Autumn/Winter 2012 collection

Just when we thought H&M could not surprise us any more or make us happeir that they have with their collaborations, they went ahead on bagged Maison Martin Margiela.

Named by and after founder Martin Margiela – the predecessor and a huge influence for the legendary Antwerp Six and one the forefathers of postmodern avant-garde fashion – the label is perhaps one H&M most far reaching collaborations.

The collaboration was confirmed yesterday, following the rumours the weekend before. The collection launches in H&M stores worldwide November 15th and will feature both menswear and womemswear and accessories.

“The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further,” said the statement released by Maison Martin Margiela. “We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”

The video is a little preview released to give an idea of what’s to come of the collaboration – naturally it will be carrying on the aesthetic of avant-garde austerity and creativity of the brand.
