Exuberance spills out of each private dining room. The Clover Club cocktail glides down your throat like a stream meeting its fall. Impeccable flavour resides in each and every dish. These are just few of the great reasons to visit the Bloomberg Arcades finest Indian establishment, Brigadiers.
A bit of background for you… Brigadiers is inspired by the army mess bars of India where military regiments would relish in the social spirit and escape reality for a hot minute. The art deco interiors reflect that of the quintessential Indian Club Culture and cocktails like the YPS Private Reserve pay homage to the serving brigadiers of the time.
After a quick tour of the establishment; scanning the series of private rooms on offer with varying quirks including a Whiskey dispenser in one and a dining-come-poker table in another (not to mention a secluded bar serving Nitro Espresso Martini on tap!), we were led to our booth for the night in the main restaurant.
The chef focuses on BBQ cooking methods utilising tandoors, charcoal grills and traditional Indian smokers.
Papadoms began our food journey that evening, like any good Indian feast should. The Chutneys scaled spice levels from Mild Tomato to punchy Smoked Aubergine Raita, gaining its yellow tint from health fanatics favourite, Turmeric.
We continued with Kati Rolls. Cooked Lobster and Shrimp were tightly wrapped in fluffy Paratha and dunked in more vibrant Chutneys. Tandoori Salmon Tikka wowed with its charcoaled exterior and complementing it; a Green Apple and Dill Chutney. A side of Daal graced the table for good measure.
As if we hadn’t been blown away enough already this evening, unbeknownst to us, the real stalwart was on the way to claim it’s rightful first place.
The Beef Shin and Bone Marrow Biryani is an absolute delight to behold. It’s encased in puff pastry that satisfyingly cracks and flakes as your fork hits it’s centre, to reveal an exciting and enticing rice inside.
Large chunks of Brisket fall apart and merge with rich Bone Marrow, leveled out with soft hints of Cardamom in every bite. Who comes up with a dish like that? It tastes like it’s been sent from above, floating through the clouds like a giant pie balloon landing graciously in our mouths. Make of that what you will…
Just about leaving room for dessert, Brigadeirs offers a selection of Kulfi, an Indian ice cream of endulgent proportions. We opted for the Chocolate and Salted Peanut Kulfi which was the perfect sweet treat.
We recommend Brigadiers for a sociable evening with friends, family and partners. To book a table and experience the wonder, visit their website here.
