Boomtown Fair 2018: What to Expect This Summer…

Boomtown Fair 2018: What to Expect This Summer…

For those of you who are looking forward to Boomtown Fair, you will be happy to hear that the headliner acts are major this year, and the line up includes superstars such as: Gorillaz, Die Antwoord , Limp Bizkit, Jimmy Cliff, The Skatalites , Goldie & The Heritage Ensemble and Morcheeba will be playing to name a few.

What I love about Boomtown is it’s diversity; it is truly a playground for adults and children alike. Excitingly, the final district line up is The Kidztown district. The Sandcastle stage will host, Disney Rascal (Ska/Reggae covers of favourite Disney tunes) Tantz, (the Leeds based klezmer/Balkan beats) and three-year-old garage enthusiast, DJ Archie will be performing. Performers, activities and workshops will be held by internationally sourced artists and they will be in the area specifically for families and little ones.

The other districts that I would strongly recommend are – The Lions Den, because it is epic – a massive stage and a huge spectacle that is easy to find – The temple is dramatic, and often has laser shows, an inferno of fire and waterfalls on the sides of the stage, absolutely mental. The Town Cenre, as this is the heart of the festival; the stage celebrates the spirit of modern Ska and Punk. The Metropolis, an upgraded Technicolor area with glowing adverts is eerily realistic and dystopian, showcasing talented techno and disco DJ’s until late. And lastly, Whistlers Green, due to ther fact that it is gorgeously mellow and has hot tubs, holistic healing field and mindful spaces such as the speakers corner for talks and debate. The Windmill stage celebrates mellow vibes – Jazz, Reggae Roots and World Fusion music.

‘The Machine cannot be stopped’ Encompasses a storyline that is even closer to home this summer, as it comments on power dynamics within our society, social media and rebelling against ‘the man’ in this case, The CEO the Bang Hai Towers. ’The final battle approaches as the future of the city and its people hangs in the balance, both outcomes offer freedom and liberty, just of slightly different kinds! The freedom to be – vs. – the freedom to buy. Who will be the winners or losers in the next era of our history? Who will rise and who shall fall, as those before them have come and gone? Only you can decide, to change the future and turn the tide…’
