Blade Hairclub located in the heart of Soho, is an innovative bar and hair concept that has started to transform the way we view salons. With its unique combination of highly-skilled hairdressing and expertly stocked bar, they’ve nailed the mix of hair salon expertise with a side of cocktail and Netflix to keep guests occupied as they ponder their new look.
Created by Julia Olofsson and music turned entrepreneur D.T Stroo, who were inspired by the desire to create a happy, unpretentious and friendly place to get hair done and hang out alone or with friends after realising the gap in the market.
Blade offers you the chance to experience hairclubbing – so bring your friends over blow-dries and wine, or on your lonesome sit back and relax with a cocktail or two and switch on Netflix and binge watch your favourite show whilst waiting for your highlights to develop.
The latter is exactly what we did when we decided it was time to update our hair colour, we had Carolina, our lovely hair colourist who guided our choices of colour before leaving us with a Chestnut Margherita cocktail and Netflix to watch, whilst the colour was doing its thing. With the additional entertainment on offer, time flew by, we have to admit it’s our least favourite thing to do normally, flicking magazines waiting for hair colour to develop – we just don’t have the patience for it. But, with the additional options on offer at Blade it really is a winner.
The intimate, well stocked bar downstairs offers a small but tasty selection of cocktails, whiskies, biodynamic wines, craft beer and signature serves. Run by Stroo, a drinks aficionado and whisky connoisseur, the drinks are strictly hand-picked to deliver ‘session’ level quality over pomp and price: from Ethiopian single-origin Sidamo Arabica coffee beans and ceremonial grade matcha green tea to rare bourbons not available in the UK and single malts – selected and brought back from US and Scotland by Stroo personally.
The staff are super fun and friendly and if you’re there earlier in the day or detoxing, the espresso bar upstairs serves single-origin coffee, a wide selection of health teas and cold-pressed juices are made fresh to order while a turntable plays blues, soul and jazz vinyls selected by Stroo.
The venue and concept combines great cuts and treatments from a bright young team of talented stylists, with an invitation to indulge in a meticulously curated drinks menu, created in-house, and served from a hidden subterranean bar.
