Today, Beefeater Gin has unveiled a specially commissioned gin-themed 3-D, mechanical mural which charts the extraordinary stories and events behind one of the world’s favourite spirits. ’The History of Gin’ installation has been created to celebrate the launch of Beefeater London: The Home of Gin, the capital’s first dedicated gin distillery visitor centre in Kennington.
The mechanical mural is on display in Covent Garden on the 14th and 15th May. The site has played a major role in gin’s history in London and was home to many of the most lavish and popular gin palaces in the 19th century, as well as a market place where botanicals used in the production of gin could be purchased.
The History of Gin mechanical mural brings to life a range of key moments in gin’s colourful history including the origins from genever to gin, the gin craze, the gin act, the roaring twenties, swinging 60’s – right through to the present day.
Beefeater London: The Home of Gin officially opens to the public on Thursday 22 May at 20 Montford Place, London. SE11 5DE. Tickets are on sale at www.beefeaterdistillery.com at a cost £12, with concessions available. #TheHomeofGin
