AY CARAMBA: Death by Burrito opens in Shoreditch
September brings a bit of spice to Shoreditch with the opening of Death and Burrito – the contemporary grill and cocktail bar from Shay Ola, the brains behind The Rebel Dining Society.
The latest taste of Mexico in London will be located at Catch bar in the heart of Shoreditch and experimental cocktails ate set to be the key ingredient in this venture. Mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (Worship St Whistling Shop, Purl and 69 Colebrook Row) has developed an exclusive Tequila Only cocktail list featuring Jose Cuervo Tradicional – using only 100% blue agave and rested in American white oak barrels for six months, the limited Jose Cuervo Tradicional is the only tipple of choice at Death By Burrito.
The match the hot drinks, Ola and Chetiyawardana have created a short but sharp menu, featuring large and small plates, sides and cocktails. Think Braised Pork Belly Burritos and Baja fish tacos (served with special deconstructed guacamole and blue corn chips), Lobster Ceviche, Grilled Octopus, Courgette flowers and goats cheese filo wraps, Stuffed plantain croquettes and Tempura shrimp. Side offerings include Sweet Potato Strings and Drunken Beans.
