There is so much more to Ibiza than just a party island! Set amongst an orange tree orchid in the heart of Ibiza’s countryside, Atzaró is a stunning family run, luxury boutique hotel with a beach restaurant and health spa. Atzaró is the perfect retreat to energise and relax. It’s already well known for being home to the islands’ only open-air spa and offers guests far more than a standard gym with regular specialist training programmes taking place in beautiful landscaped gardens for the fit and health conscious amongst us.
Atzaró is the only agrotourism hotel on the island to open throughout the year (just a handful of larger hotels open all year round in Ibiza) making it the perfect choice when we visited late October after the closing parties. We stayed elsewhere on the island but we wanted to check out the spa and have lunch somewhere unique and wonderful so this fit the bill perfectly.
Alfresco dining at the Veranda restaurant in the sunshine was exactly what we hoped for when we arrived. The wonderfully whimsical garden provided a serene backdrop and allowed us to while away a few hours eating gloriously healthy but delicious cuisine. Dishes on offer focus heavily on locally sourced seasonal products including produce from Atzaró’s plentiful gardens. The menu changes regularly so we settled on a Tasting Menu to give us a snippet of everything that was on offer. To balance the healthy dining we ordered a bottle of champagne to wash down the yummy-ness. Our selection of starters included a divine pumpkin soup and roasted sweet potato, buckwheat salad and roasted vegetables marinated eggplant and cheese and the most exquisite creamy homemade guacamole dip. The main was a choice between fish, meat or veggie option – we opted for the Argentinian beef with french fries and chimichurri sauce, which was truly divine, the meat was tender and juicy and the fries out of this world and the hake on duo cream of asparagus and peas, equally impressive. Dessert was a homemade slice of carrot cake.
Everything was exactly as we hoped, sublimely satisfying and all very reasonably priced. Our lunch also included access to the spa so was €60p/p. (€25p/p for lunch only including an aperitif, entrée, fish/meat and dessert). Drinks were extra.
After lunch we settled into one of the beds and lounged in the sunshine digesting our food and just enjoying the serenity. We’ll definitely make a trip back and stay here as there is so much more on offer than we had time for – the spa facilities being one of them.
