Asia de Cuba was a once one of our favourites and a regular haunt many moons ago but over the years it seems to have slipped through our conscious. Still it’s always good to be reminded and we thought a visit was in order as we were curious to see what had changed if anything – we have very fond SATC (girlie catch ups) memories of this place.
Our excuse to revisit was the Asia de Cuba, Chino-Latino bottomless brunch. Devised by Executive Chef Luis Pous, the decadent three-course brunch menu includes a range of Asia de Cuba dishes for the table, keeping with its sharing ethos which included Black Bean Hummus with Malanga Chips, Ceviche de Pescado and Mini Cuban Sandwiches plus a main from the a la carte menu. All dishes are accompanied by their choice of bottomless brunch cocktail or champagne, plus an unlimited number of the restaurant’s signature and extremely addictive Mexican Doughnuts.
Our waitress Tunde was extremely helpful in guiding our choices as we were also tempted by some of the lunch offerings and old signatures. Brunch alone on this occasion wasn’t going to cut it so we ended up creating our very own brunch feast (well it would be rude not to after all this time). We’re pleased to report that the food is as good as we remember. The Tunapica Tartare, crispy wonton, spanish olives, currants, toasted coconut, almond, avocado ceviche and Salmon Ceviche coconut passionfruit cured, cucumber shiso salsa, micros shiso off the lunch menu are an absolute must.
Asia de Cuba has managed to retain its sophistication and quality of cuisine over the years which was always the main attraction. The restaurants casual fun vibes and delicious Cuban inspired food and imaginative menu makes this a popular choice for birthdays and weekend celebrations – which we saw a lot of on our visit. The restaurant was buzzy and the brunch popular. We definitely will be popping back to try a few other signatures on the menu we couldn’t fit in this time around.
