RUDE INTERVIEW
Where are you and what are you going to be doing today?
I spent my day working from SHOT. I controlled the buzz during lunch, and spent the rest of my time on my laptop sending emails and working on a number of business development opportunities! SHOT closed at 4pm, at which point I walked to my gym just off Old Street and trained with my personal trainer. After a healthy dinner and a quick shower, I headed to The Box for 11pm to DJ until the early hours!
What is your earliest memory of music/food?
Listening to a vinyl of Michael Jackson’s “Off The Wall” is one my earliest and fondest memories of music, and the fact that I still own that very same vinyl to this day is testament to that. Music has been such an integral part of my life, as has food! I have grown up in a house where the kitchen was always the focal point, and my earliest memory of food has to be a Pakistani dish called “Nihari. It is a spicy lamb curry that is cooked slow and low for 8 hours and is served with a garnish fresh ginger, caramelised sweet onions and wedges of lime. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!
What’s your favourite hangout in London/Worldwide?
I DJ everyday Saturday night at Tape London, and it is definitely my favourite place to be in London right now. Internationally, a nightclub & cocktail bar in Dallas, Texas opened by my brother called Citizen. Nightlife and hospitality runs in the family!
Best meal you have had so far this year?
Shackfuyu on Old Compton Street. So much so, I have been back there fives times already. If you do go, get the Wagyu Beef Tartare and thank me later.
Any new artists you are currently listening to we need to know about?
Danny Seth is definitely someone that everyone needs to know about! Born and bred in London, he is currently recording in LA, and is about to make serious impact on hip-hop scene!
What’s in store for the next year?
SHOT expansion! If all goes to plan we will look to acquire a new site in the next 6 months.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?
Eat, sleep, repeat!
What do you do to get away from everything?
I am lucky enough to love what I do, so don’t often feel the need to get away from it all. However, I believe exercise truly has the ability to provide clarity for the mind. I train and attend yoga classes frequently which helps me detach from work when I feel I need to.
What was the last thing that really made you stop and stare?
I recently travelled to Barbados to DJ a wedding. The white sand and crystal clear turquoise water was breathtaking.
