A connoisseur in luxury glamourous summer wear Anna Grotkamp is the owner of B London, the online boutique with stores in both London and the UK. Anna carefully selects her brands to compile a beautiful selection of bikinis, dresses, jewellery, sunglasses and beauty products. Melissa Odabash, Vix, Soludos, Hot as Hell and Beach Bunny are just a few of the designers featured. Inspired by the jet set lifestyle Anna followed her passion for luxury designers wear to devise her very own platform and what better destinations than London and Ibiza to place her boutiques. B London even has a spa, what more could a girl need under one roof…
Describe the B London Boutique aesthetic?
B London is fun, luxurious and also a bit edgy! We constantly look for new, upcoming and sometimes a bit “out there” brands to keep it fresh and sassy, alongside our more classic brands! Our slogan is Namaste Bitches.. And our neon sign in Ibiza (designed by Kerry Ryan of Tracey Emin) has many people coming in just to take a picture of it – we don’t take ourselves too serious.
Your top pieces in from B London for this summer?
My top pieces are One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts, Hot as Hell Leopard Hi-Kini & the Grace Bijoux Metal Bra. All three are new brands for us this season and have been an instant hit, both in London & Ibiza. I still get excited when we get new brands in, particularly if they’re up and coming.
What do you think attributes to the success of your online platform?
I definitely think social media plays a big part in our online success. Instagram is the biggest click through out of all social media platforms for us, and we also ship worldwide so many of our clients come from Australia, Canada, USA and so forth.
Why did you choose to have stores in London and Ibiza?
I have been coming to Ibiza since a child and I always dreamed of living there. The idea of B London was actually born in Ibiza, so when we were looking to open another boutique, Ibiza was the first on my wish list. Also, due to brand restrictions we were unable to open in our preferred locations in London so it meant we started looking abroad. It had to be somewhere I didn’t mind spending a lot of time in, and so Ibiza it was!
Where do your influences or inspirations come from?
I spent a lot of time online and traveling so I mostly get my inspirations from my travels, followed by bloggers/Pinterest. Last year I travelled to Bali, Hong Kong, Australia, New York, LA, Paris so I take inspiration from all the places I visit. There are also some amazing Instagram pages you can get a lot of ideas from!
Do you have a fashion icon and could you explain why they are your icon?
Vivienne Westwood – she uses fashion to express herself & her views and is not shy to give her opinion and do her own thing, without following trends. She is still in control of her independently owned brand and as a woman I admire her for what she has achieved. I remember my mum wearing her clothes in the Punk Era & standing outside her boutique in Kings Road with the anti clockwise Clock waiting on my mum.
What was the last thing that made you stop and stare?
In London fields there was a homeless guy, looking through rubbish but he was super stylish wearing denim jeans, white trainers and an old Burberry style Mac and Palace cap. He was probably about 70 years old, big beard, with his cap and a lot of laughter lines and he looked super cool. He made me stop and stare and admire.
