Imagine a world where everything is pink. A place where the staff are always smiling, where plush, velvety furnishings line the rooms and where make-up, cocktails and food come together in a heavenly world of glamour and pampering. Yes, this place exists.
Our favourite makeup brand has taken over the RS Hispaniola on the Thames for the summer and it’s a place that should be high on your agenda. The Good Ship by Benefit is here until 31st August and will be enchanting guests with the intoxicating allure of makeovers, dining and cocktails on deck throughout the summer.
On arrival you’ll be greeted by their enthusiastic friendly crew. Every single team member on board encapsulates the Benefit brand, with wide, genuine smiles, exceptional service and a touch of campness. You feel like you’ve walked onto the set of the OC, with a team of beautiful, tanned staff at your service throughout your visit. They didn’t drop the ball even once, attending to our every need and leading us through the ship for a guided tour.
Every room has a quirky name inspired by the Benefit products, such as the Lashtitude Restaurant, the Hoola Beach Bar and the secret POREfessional Vault. We were brunching in the Brow Lounge which was decked out in plush pink furnishings, with stylish hot-pink couches, chairs finished with bunny-ear shaped framing and black-clothed tables from which you can enjoy your brunch, which did I mention, is bottomless…
The menu is a choice of eggs benedict, royale, floretine or Californian (with avocado), plus French toast and a range of toppings for dessert. All this is accompanied with free-flowing champagne, which indeed flows freely; our glasses were constantly topped up, with the lovely team ensuring we were never without bubbles. This two-course champagne brunch would be perfect for a birthday or hen-do celebration, but works equally well for a catch up with a friend.
I guarantee this place will be teeming as soon as the sun comes out. The Hoola decks look like exactly the place you’d want to be when the sun shines its gorgeous rays on London town; floating above the river Thames, cocktail in one hand, lounging on their cushioned seating.
Each corner of the boat has been given a unique Benefit touch; from the giant ‘They’re Real’ mascara tubes lining the entrance to the cute ‘Roller Lash’ corner decked out like a vintage salon. I especially loved the POREfessional Vault, a secret cocktail bar hidden behind a door, below deck; it looked like a futuristic hideaway with modern white furniture and sky blue décor, to match the product after which it was named.
The Good Ship Benefit is a true London experience; the kind of place you’d only find in this city and one which won’t be around forever so make sure you find time for a visit and make it a leisurely one, as it won’t be a place you’ll want to leave in a hurry.
