“The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it… I can resist everything but temptation”
-Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde didn’t manage to enjoy the delights of the ABSOLUT Elyx Single Estate Feast at Hix restaurant, but if he did the quote above would have been very apt. With over five, yes five, sumptuous courses, all served up with Absolut’s smooth new Single Estate expertly mixed and screwed into tasty cocktails to suit each dish, our taste buds at It’s Rude To Stare were spoiled rotten with pleasure… So if that hasn’t convinced the naysayers (not that there are any?!), here are 10 more reasons why you NEED to book a feast for you and your friends now!
Who knew vodka could be so classy… Served in beautiful vintage glasses, each vodka cocktail was expertly put together, taking into consideration ingredients in each dish and complementing rather than overshadowing each course. Our favourite was Hedonism – ABSOLUT Elyx with fennel juice and white wine with a lemon twist served with crushed ice. And yes it does taste as good as it sounds.
Gluttony is a dish best served HOT and STEAMY! Hix restaurant didn’t disappoint. The main course of Launceston lamb cutlets, Glenarm rib of beef and Moyallon pork chops, all served with garden salad & chips is a carnivores dream!
Total indulgence and zero guilt. ABSOLUT Elyx is a single-batch vodka, made from all natural ingredients. Every part of the production, from the planting of the first seed, all the way through distillation and bottling, is performed within a 25 km radius in the Åhus region of Southern Sweden. This makes ABSOLUT Elyx 100% traceable.
Everyone should try a smoked vodka cocktail at least once in their life… If words even began to describe the weird yet refreshing Smoking In The Sea concoction of vodka, lime and falernum, strained over cucumber and wild chervil iceberg we would be writing for days. Best just to book a table right now to be honest.
Go forth and GORGE. Make like a medieval banquet and stuff your face, we promise the extra pounds are worth it.
Sharing is caring. The large table that seats ten or more quite comfortably makes celebrating and eating just that bit more pleasurable. There is nothing like catching an old friend’s eye over the table whilst chowing down on a juicy bit of steak. Plus it isn’t to dissimilar to what I imagine our Medieval forefathers would have revelled in, only with a lot more vodka. Obviously.
It’s a bargain. At £70 a head you get a lot for your money. Five courses, five vodka cocktails, hours of fun. And quite likely a healthy hangover too.
Experience a totally unique dining experience at one of the most distinguished restaurants in London, headed up by celebrated chef Mark Hix.
You can say you’ve tasted liquid gold… The exceptional purity and silky texture of Elyx has been recognised by the prestigious San Francisco Spirit competition which ranked ABSOLUT Elyx as the world’s BEST vodka, awarding it the coveted recognition of excellence the double gold medal.
Get hooked on Scrumpy fried oysters. I’m not lying, they are really that good (I’m salivating wildly whilst typing this). If you’re not keen on seafood this will turn you from a non-believer to a devotee in one bite.
